The Designer
Always a creative individual Lea began her career in 1984 when she studied Fashion Design at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, Canada. She entered a partnership in 1986 under the label Skinovations where beautiful leather and suede garments were produced for both wholesale and custom design. In 1989 she went on to her own label and has been offering her exclusive service to those unique individuals with a vision and a taste for fine quality apparel.
Lea Nelson Couture Studio is located in Grand Bend Ontario Canada. For those wondering where that is, it’s 2 hours West of Toronto, 1 hour North West of London and 1 hour North of Sarnia. Lea looks forward to working with you to create your dream garment.
The Process
The purpose of this website it to showcase the workmanship of Lea and offer the public the opportunity to have a completely original one of a kind art piece for their very own.
Due to the nature of the work and the time required to produce each garment, lead time is of the utmost importance. Depending on the nature of the piece it could take several months to complete while others can be done quite quickly.
Lea is highly skilled in many areas clothing design including bridal, evening, destination, leather & suede, reconstruction and fine tailoring “including men’s wear.” She can work with most fabrics including fine silks, beaded, linens, chiffon, organza, tulle, cotton, wool, stretch and lace.
Lea produces every piece herself and whats really great is that you can expect to pay approximately what you would if you purchased a fine garment retail. There are no retail markups and low overhead costs. Let the magic begin with a consult with Lea!
